Official starting shot for the construction of the T-Mobile fibre optic network in Segbroek, The Hague

The time has almost come. In ten days, VolkerWessels Telecom will start building the brand-new fibre optic network for T-Mobile in the Segbroek district of The Hague. The Hague councillor Richard de Mos fired the official starting shot for this yesterday. T-Mobile CEO Søren Abildgaard, Bas van Dongen of Primevest Capital and our own Bastiaan Ruijg provided a brief explanation of the project.

Fast internet

The quality, stability and speed of internet and TV connections in Segbroek will increase as a result of fibre optics. Residents in this area will get internet at a speed of 1 Gb per second at very competitive prices. This is necessary because data consumption is increasing in the Netherlands. More and more of us are streaming digital video, playing online games and listening to music over the internet, and using smart devices.

Direct cooperation with the municipality of The Hague

A moment was set aside during the kick-off event for The Hague councillor Richard de Mos and VolkerWessels Telecom CEO Wido van de Mast to sign the partnership agreement between the municipality of The Hague and VolkerWessels Telecom. This signing confirms our role as the full turnkey contractor for Primevest, the investor and future owner of the network. The agreement contains clear arrangements concerning the roll-out of fibre optics throughout The Hague.

Start digging

VolkerWessels Telecom will hold the breaking-ground ceremony on 17 June. The first connection is expected to be ready by September.
