Alliander Telecom and VolkerWessels Telecom sign fibre optic network maintenance agreement
On 13 December, Alliander Telecom and VolkerWessels Telecom signed an agreement for the maintenance and management of Alliander’s fibre optic network. In the past year, Alliander’s telecommunications network has been fully migrated to a future-proof network that is primarily used to control and manage the energy grids. This means a fast, reliable and secure network that is ready for the digital transition, as more and more data and information will be transported over this network in the future.
300 interconnected stations
The fibre optic network connects the operating centres with around 300 substations, switching stations and control stations, and provides access to Alliander’s data centres and office locations. VolkerWessels Telecom will carry out repairs on the network nationwide on a call basis and is available for service 24/7 over approximately 1,700 km of fibre optic cables.
